Message from Pastor Kurt: My Guy Won!
Well, Praise the Lord – My Guy won! Oh, not the person I voted for; but the One I serve. You see, my prayer to the Lord was, “I want my guy to win, but I want Your “will” in this world to be done more.”
John tells us -
1John 2:15 Do not love the world [that is the world’s systems, those things of the prince of this world] or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
1 John 2:16 For all that is in the world–the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life–is not of the Father but is of the world. Of Satan.
1 John 2:17 And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.
Everything here will go – that is, it all burns – but - he who does the will of God abides forever. And this is where I want to find myself, and not in the world.
I think this, more than ever, applies to us today. We need to hold everything in this world with an open hand or not at all–including this country.
John tells us –
1 John 3:1 Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God!
If we believe that we are the Children of the Most High God, if we are Children of the King, then Who’s Kingdom is ours and who’s country is this – John tells us in the same verse, “therefore, the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.”
This world and the nations that are here, don’t know our Father, nor His Son… and because of this, it cannot know us – Jesus explained it this way
John 15:18 “If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you.
John 15:19 If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. The reason for their hatred of us, because it hated Him.
Jesus goes on -
John 15:20 Remember the word that I said to you, “A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. If they kept My word, they will keep yours also.
John 15:21 But all these things they will do to you for My name’s sake, because they do not know Him who sent Me.
John 15:22 If I had not come and spoken to them, they would have no sin, but now they have no excuse for their sin.
John 15:23 He who hates Me hates My Father also.
John 15:24 If I had not done among them the works which no one else did, they would have no sin; but now they have seen and also hated both Me and My Father.
John 15:25 But this happened that the word might be fulfilled which is written in their law, “They hated Me without a cause.’
We don’t need to pray for this country; rather:
We need to pray for the leaders of this country.
We need to pray for the Church in this country.
We need to pray for the leadership in the Church.
We need to pray for our Church and each other.
And we need to get out there and take the Gospel to all that we can, as quickly as we can.
We should vote and we should express our opinions to the leaders of this country, but we need to do former first and foremost. It is the call that Christ put on His church, on us, “to take this Gospel into all the world.”
My prayer for this body is that Jesus would break the hearts of all of us for the lost, because
